Bill has served as the firm’s managing partner since July 2019, guiding the firm through a period of historic change and growth.
Bill Malley applies his law firm leadership and management experience to advance the firm’s position as a trusted advisor to clients and uphold the firm’s culture of professional excellence, collaboration, and inclusivity.
During Bill’s tenure, the firm has opened new offices in Austin and London, while doubling its presence in New York and maintaining its market-leading position in the Pacific Northwest. The firm has made major investments in key practice areas, including emerging company and venture capital; patent litigation; private equity and mergers and acquisitions; and white collar and securities litigation. In addition, the firm has consistently achieved strong financial results, while rising in many industry rankings and earning national accolades for client service, pro bono, diversity and inclusion, and workplace culture.
Before serving as managing partner, Bill served for nine years as office managing partner in the firm’s Washington, D.C., office and co-led the firm’s Infrastructure Development practice. He spent more than 25 years practicing at the intersection of environmental law and transportation, advising clients on a wide range of regulatory matters.
A graduate of Yale Law School, Bill also earned his M.S., with distinction, from the London School of Economics and Political Science, and his undergraduate degree from Harvard University. After graduating from law school, Bill clerked for the Hon. José Cabranes, Chief Judge of the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut.
