Perkins Coie Moves into Iconic Seattle Office Building

SEATTLE (June 9, 2025)—Perkins Coie has moved its Seattle office into an iconic modern building that maintains the firm’s presence in the heart of the city’s business district. As Seattle’s largest law firm and a trusted advisor to leading technology companies and entrepreneurs, some 800 lawyers and business professionals have relocated to 1301 Second Avenue.

"We're truly excited to begin this new chapter in the city that has been our foundation for over a century, where we’ve become a leading advisor to many Fortune 500 companies and cutting-edge innovators," said James Williams, Perkins Coie's Seattle office managing partner. "The exceptional space and amenities in this iconic building provide a new destination home for us in Seattle and further strengthen our dedication to the local community.”

The new office provides enhanced conference and event space with expansive views of the Seattle waterfront and Puget Sound. It includes a modern and welcoming conference center, dedicated spaces for wellness and health, and top-tier amenities. With offices designed for hybrid work and hoteling, the firm's Seattle footprint has been reduced by just under 50% to approximately 150,000 square feet.

"Our new Seattle office reflects the innovation, creativity, and collaborative spirit we bring to every client engagement," said Bill Malley, Perkins Coie's firmwide managing partner. "With this investment, we continue to strengthen our capabilities to support clients developing the transformative technologies of tomorrow.”

Lawyers in the Seattle office advise clients in related fields such as mergers and acquisitions, technology transactions, intellectual property and patents, venture capital, emerging companies and startups, white-collar enforcement, fintech, and privacy and data security.

The new offices are situated within an energy-efficient Class A high-rise with a Platinum LEED rating for efficiency, and with proximity to mass transit.

Perkins Coie, a 1,100-lawyer firm with deep West Coast and Silicon Valley roots, was founded in Seattle in May 1912 with a handshake between former U.S. District Court Judge George Donworth and former U.S. Attorney Elmer Todd.
