Upjeet Cheema is an associate in Perkins Coie's Emerging Companies & Venture Capital (ECVC) practice.
Upjeet counsels companies on a range of legal and financial issues throughout all stages of their lifecycle. His experience includes drafting formation, financing, employment, equity, and general governance documents for emerging companies.
Maintaining an active pro bono practice, Upjeet represents tenants in landlord-tenant settlement disputes.
A graduate of the University of California College of the Law, San Francisco, Upjeet served as the executive production editor of the Hastings Business Law Journal. While attending law school, he worked as a law clerk, reviewing nondisclosure agreements (NDAs), vendor agreements, and software as a service (SaaS) agreements for Series E late-stage startups. Upjeet also documented problematic contractual terms to highlight for renegotiation in upcoming renewals, organized data privacy materials, and assisted with OneTrust implementation for vendor agreements.
