Roderick J. O'Dorisio
Roderick O'Dorisio focuses primarily on patent infringement and trade secret litigation.
Leveraging his knowledge in both computer science and Chinese culture, Roderick handles IP matters for a variety of global technology companies that are developing cutting-edge software products, semiconductors, telecommunications infrastructure, wearables and more. He has experience managing all phases of litigation, from e-discovery to preparing witnesses and experts for depositions to drafting motions and briefs.
In addition to his litigation practice, Roderick has experience drafting patent applications, office action responses and Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) appeal briefs for various technologies, including natural language processing, machine learning, artificial intelligence, computer and database security systems, facial recognition, network infrastructure and virtual and augmented reality. Additionally, he has counseled clients on trademark strategy, filed trademark applications and drafted licensing agreements.
Roderick is also a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US) and has experience advising clients on compliance issues with various privacy and data protection regulations, such as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA).
Prior to becoming an attorney, Roderick worked as a registered patent agent for a boutique IP firm and a software engineer in the aerospace and defense industry. He also lived in China for a period of time as part of an intensive Mandarin program through Peking University and is conversationally fluent in Mandarin Chinese.
As a member of the Lawyer-Pilot's Bar Association, Roderick has his private pilot's license with an instrument rating. He is an avid aviator and enjoys all things outdoors, especially hiking and climbing Colorado's 14ers with his wife.
