Perkins Coie and Eight Attorneys Honored by USPTO for Pro Bono Contributions

SEATTLE (June 14, 2021)—Perkins Coie is proud to announce that the firm and eight attorneys were awarded the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO)'s 2020 Patent Pro Bono Achievement Certificate, which recognizes individuals and law firms that assist financially under-resourced inventors and small businesses seeking patents.

The firm was one of the top 25 corporations and law firms honored and the recognized attorneys include the following:

  • Brian Coleman (Partner, Palo Alto)
  • Colin Fowler (Counsel, Palo Alto)
  • Homer Hsu (Associate, Seattle)

  • Betty Wong (Patent Agent, Seattle)

These attorneys are part of a group of more than 100 patent practitioners who reported 50 or more hours of patent pro bono service to a regional pro bono program in 2020. The attorneys regularly work with low-income entrepreneurs through programs such as California Lawyers for the Arts, Texas Accountants and Lawyers for the Arts, and the Washington Pro Bono Patent Network.
