Perkins Coie Selected for Fourth Time as Go-to Firm by China Ministry of Commerce

BEIJING (February 8, 2022)—Perkins Coie is pleased to announce the firm was once again selected as one of only a handful of U.S. law firms qualified to provide legal advice to the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China (MOFCOM) in the fields of Sino-US trade and investment and International Trade Commission (ITC) Section 337 investigations. Since MOFCOM initiated the law firm bidding process in 2013, Perkins Coie has been the only U.S. law firm chosen each time for multiple major fields.

The selection reflects Perkins Coie's commitment to providing excellent legal service and maintaining a strong reputation in China and Asia. MOFCOM is one of China's main government departments, responsible for the formulation of policies and regulations related to foreign trade, import and export, foreign direct investment, consumer protection and market competition, and the negotiation of bilateral and variable trade agreements.

"This recognition reflects the expertise and depth of Perkins Coie's legal teams in Asia and in the U.S. across a wide range of cross-border intellectual property, trade and investment matters," said Michael House, co-chair of the firm's International Trade & Transactions practice, who led Perkins Coie's winning bid submission together with the firm's ITC Litigation team, including co-chair John Schnurer, and partners Louise Lu and Kevin Patariu. "We are thrilled with MOFCOM's consistent recognition of our firm's leading Section 337 practice," said John Schnurer.
