Stephen A. Brookman

Stephen Brookman also assists clients with patent litigation disputes, inter partes review (IPR) petitions, patent infringement and validity analysis, and general commercial litigation matters.

As a former engineer and patent examiner, Stephen uses his experience and perspective to provide strategic counseling for clients where their legal and technical matters intersect. He has represented clients in a broad array of technology areas, with a particular focus in aerospace technologies, including space vehicles, satellites, and unmanned aircraft systems (UAS). Stephen also prepares and prosecutes patent applications for a major sporting goods company. Stephen also has represented clients in patent matters related to robotics, renewable energy, data collection systems, smart batteries, cellular communication networks, printers, window coverings, outdoor recreational equipment, agricultural equipment, explosives, and video game equipment.

Prior to practicing law, Stephen examined patent applications at the USPTO in the fields of aeronautics, astronautics, and animal husbandry and worked as an engineer supporting a line of ordnance components and energetic materials in the aerospace and defense industry. While he was a law student, he was an editor for Jurimetrics, The Journal of Law, Science, and Technology. As an undergraduate student, he enjoyed assisting graduate researchers in developing and testing robotic hardware, including as a SCUBA diver for simulated space missions.
