A seasoned lawyer with a deep understanding of the Chinese legal system, Scott advises premier organizations, artists, and innovators on all intellectual property matters.
Scott Palmer provides comprehensive counsel on intellectual property (IP) registration, maintenance, licensing, enforcement, and litigation for foreign companies in China and for Chinese companies in the United States. His clients span such industries as apparel, retail, hospitality, automotive, software, musical instruments, entertainment, life sciences, cosmetics, transportation, and clean energy. Scott began his legal career in China more than two decades ago and is fluent in Mandarin Chinese.
In his management of IP portfolios for major multinational companies, Scott oversees a wide range of needs, from IP registration to administrative and criminal enforcement. He is an experienced litigator who handles matters relating to trademark and patent prosecution, the acquisition and maintenance of IP rights, and the licensing and transfer of IP.
Scott manages anti-counterfeiting and anti-piracy programs for large and small companies. He regularly assists clients in the areas of brand development, advertising, and product quality, as well as license approvals and regulatory compliance for products and services in highly regulated industries—including before the China Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.
Scott is a co-chair of the AmCham China Legal Affairs Committee and is active in committee work for the International Trademark Association.
