Perkins Coie Partners and Practice Groups Ranked in the 2024 Chambers Global Guide
SEATTLE (February 26, 2024)—Perkins Coie is proud to announce that eleven partners and eight practice areas have been ranked by Chambers and Partners, publishers of the 2024 Chambers Global Guide, for exceptional work in the United States and China.
The following partners were recognized by Chambers and Partners:
Veronica Ascarrunz, a partner in the Intellectual Property practice and co-chair of the firm's ITC Section 337 Actions group, was named for her litigation of complex patent, trademark, and trade secret matters in federal courts at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC). She has secured successful outcomes for dozens of clients in Section 337 ITC investigations at all stages, from early resolution through trial and appeal. Veronica is the immediate past president of the ITC Trial Lawyers Association.
Robin Brewer, a partner in the Intellectual Property practice and member of the firm's ITC Section 337 Actions group, represents technology companies in patent litigation before the federal courts, the ITC, and the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB). Robin's broad engineering background informs her counseling of clients in all areas of technology, and she has won favorable legal victories for key technology clients on critical issues before the ITC—victories that have become regularly cited precedent.
Carl Frischling, a partner in the Investment Management practice, was named a senior statesperson in recognition of his work with registered investment funds, including investment fund formation, with the development, structuring, and management of mutual funds, and with federal regulatory obligations for independent investment directors and trustees.
Markus Funk, co-chair of the firm's Supply Chain Compliance practice, was recognized for his focus on internal investigations, complex commercial litigation both at the trial and appellate levels, white-collar criminal defense, corporate social responsibility and supply chain compliance, and corporate counseling.
Meredith Halama, co-chair of the Privacy & Security practice and chair of the Ad Tech industry group, was recognized for counseling clients on the full spectrum of consumer privacy issues, with a particular emphasis on targeted advertising, mobile advertising, data monetization, and related business practices.
Janis Kestenbaum, a partner in the Privacy & Security practice, was recognized for her successful track record representing both major corporations and startups in investigations by the Federal Trade Commission, state attorneys general, and foreign data protection authorities.
Scott Palmer, managing partner of Perkins Coie's Beijing office and a partner in the Intellectual Property practice, was recognized as a leader in international intellectual property work, including enforcement, dispute resolution, trademarks, and licensing matters in the People's Republic of China.
Jane Rueger*, a partner in the Environment & Natural Resources practice, was recognized for her regulatory and litigation work in the electricity field, handling FERC litigation matters and for representing power sector clients as part of her wider energy practice.
Stefani Shanberg, a partner in the Intellectual Property practice and member of the firm's ITC Section 337 Actions group, represents clients in intellectual property cases before the federal courts and the ITC. She was recognized as a go-to advisor for fast-growing technology companies and has particular experience with investigations before the ITC. As the only West Coast–based past president of the ITC Trial Lawyers Association, Stefani has a unique understanding of the priorities of technology companies facing ITC litigation.
Jim Snell, managing partner of the firm's Palo Alto office and a privacy litigation partner who has guided companies through privacy, intellectual property, and complex commercial disputes for decades, was recognized as a leader in international privacy and data security litigation.
Michael Wise, a partner in the Intellectual Property practice and chair of the firm's Life Sciences & Healthcare industry group, was recognized for his intellectual property work, including patent portfolio management and complex contested patent matters in the life sciences industry. Michael was recognized for his "Foreign Expertise in China" and "Expertise Based Abroad in China" in the rankings.
The 2024 Chambers Global Guide additionally ranked the firm in the following eight practice areas: Intellectual Property (Patent); Intellectual Property (International Firms) in China; International Trade: Intellectual Property (Section 337); Labor & Employment; Privacy & Data Security: Litigation; Privacy & Data Security: The Elite; Registered Funds; and Technology Sector (International & Cross-Border), which includes U.S. Nationwide Technology, Outsourcing, Privacy, and other tech-focused areas.
