Alexandra Magill Bromer advises on environmental compliance obligations arising under various federal statutes and their state counterparts. Her clients include companies within the petroleum refining, energy, and other industries. Alix counsels on Clean Air Act compliance, solving complex regulatory problems involving stationary source and fuels obligations. She also defends U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and state enforcement actions, challenges state and federal rulemakings, and leads emergency environmental responses.
Alix has extensive experience with EPA’s National Petroleum Refining Initiative, representing refineries in settlement negotiations and guiding them through consent decree implementation and termination. She also advises and defends clients in matters under the Clean Water Act; the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act; Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act; and the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act.
For publicly listed clients, Alix offers guidance on environmental risk disclosures in SEC filings and conducts environmental due diligence on petroleum refinery transactions. She is well-versed in AAA arbitration and resolving legacy liability issues between current and former industrial site owners.
Alix maintains an active pro bono practice and has assisted Holocaust survivors in applying for benefits from the German government. She also works with veterans to secure U.S. military medical retirements and benefits.
