Xiaobing Zhang, Ph.D.

Dr. Xiaobing (Madison) Zhang has experience prosecuting U.S. patent applications, including developing prosecution strategies, preparing office action responses, and conducting examiner interviews.

She also advises clients on global patent protection strategies and handles international patent applications. Her patent practice covers a wide variety of technical areas, including medical devices including biomedical imaging devices and systems, mechanical engineering structures and devices, artificial intelligence, electronics, software, e-commerce technologies, and Internet of Things (IoT).

Madison has developed and managed patent portfolios for clients of various sizes ranging from startup companies to billion-dollar companies and performed due diligence and prepared agreements in technology transactions and participated in patent litigation in U.S. district court.

Prior to her patent practice, Madison worked as a researcher in biomedical and mechanical engineering and published research papers in academic journals. She received the Harold Shames Biomedical Engineering Award for Graduate Academic Excellence from the City University of New York for her research and dissertation on mechanotransduction and flow across the endothelial glycocalyx. Madison also taught college level courses during her years for doctoral research and post-doctoral research.
