Tyler Knox

Tyler Knox is a Patent Litigation associate in the firm's Intellectual Property (IP) practice. His experience includes advocating for the patentability of patent owners' claims in oral hearings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB). He has also drafted, revised, and reviewed a variety of patent owners' responses and motions, challenges to patent claims in petitioners for inter partes reviews and ex parte reexamination requests, and newsletters covering patent law updates.

Prior to joining Perkins Coie, Tyler served as a patent attorney at an international law firm. Additionally, he worked at a national IP firm, orally advocating in district court for claim construction positions and drafting petitions, expert declarations, replies, and deposition preparation materials. Tyler preceded this with years' service as a U.S. Army engineering officer.

Tyler earned his J.D. with a certificate in IP from University of Denver Sturm College of Law. Prior to law school, he earned his M.S. in engineering management from Missouri University of Science and Technology and his B.S. in civil engineering from the U.S. Military Academy. He relies on his past engineering experience and education to help clients navigate high-technology patent litigation disputes in federal court and post-grant proceedings before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
