Stevan R. Stark

Patent litigator Stevan Stark has experience litigating all phases of complex patent disputes in venues throughout the country, including in courts with heavy patent dockets, such as the U.S. district courts for the Northern District of California, Delaware and the Eastern District of Texas.

His practice spans a broad array of technologies, including networking and internet technologies, cloud-based technologies, image processing, video game consoles, mobile devices, software and electronic and mechanical devices.

Stevan has prepared successful case dispositive motions, argued before U.S. district courts and handled all phases of discovery, including preparing witnesses and taking and defending depositions, all with an eye towards minimizing expansive discovery. He has represented clients at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and has successfully defended and challenged patents at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office in inter partes review proceedings.

A former software engineer with a degree in computer science, love of technology and industry experience, Stevan worked for nine years as an engineer in computer imaging and internet- and cable-related technologies prior to becoming an attorney. Throughout his professional career, Stevan has proven his value to clients with his ability to successfully represent technology companies and effectively communicate with individuals at all levels of organizations.

Represented Fiserv, Inc. in patent litigation relating to automated valuation models. Case settled just before trial.

Open Parking, LLC v. ParkMe, Inc.

Successfully defended ParkMe in a patent suit relating to Internet-based parking applications. The district court found the asserted patents to be directed to patent-ineligible subject matter under 35 U.S.C. § 101 and granted ParkMe’s motion to dismiss. The Federal Circuit affirmed on appeal.

Radware v. F5 Networks

Represented F5 Networks in patent litigation and jury trial relating to network packet routing. Obtained summary judgment of noninfringement on one of three patents, and favorable judgment on damages on other patents, all affirmed on appeal.

U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware
Represented Google in patent litigation relating to image navigation functionality. Case resolved immediately before trial.

TransData v. CenterPoint Energy Houston Electric, et al.

U.S. District Court for the Western District of Oklahoma
Represented multiple utilities in patent litigation relating to electric meters. Case resolved immediately before trial.
