Sonia Farber
Sonia is recognized for her commercial and strategic approach to guiding founders and start-ups through critical inflection points as they scale, leveraging her experience as a former litigator and federal law clerk to advocate for her clients’ best interests.
Sonia Farber advises innovative companies in the software as a service (SaaS), consumer tech, health tech, artificial intelligence (AI) and consumer packaged goods (CPG) spaces through critical phases of their lifecycles, from formation and launch through key milestones and exit. Sonia also works closely with founders and their companies on day-to-day business matters, including board and governance issues and co-founder separations.
Sonia maintains an active pro bono practice, with an emphasis on women’s and children’s rights, and has represented clients in asylum proceedings, special immigrant juvenile proceedings for children seeking to stay in the United States, and human rights cases. She is an active board member with Yamba Malawi, a nonprofit dedicated to reducing childhood poverty in Malawi, where over half the population lives in poverty.
Sonia regularly speaks and writes on topics that include venture law and women in the law. She is fluent in French and Spanish.
Prior to joining Perkins Coie, Sonia co-founded a successful boutique law firm, specializing in startups and venture capital. Sonia began her career at Debevoise & Plimpton LLP, where she practiced for seven years. She clerked for Judge Schofield in the Southern District of New York. Sonia graduated from Berkeley Law and is an active member of the alumni community.
