Serena Nakano advises case teams on discovery strategies in matters involving substantial electronically stored information, helping clients develop practical, defensible approaches that meet discovery obligations and move matters forward efficiently.
Serena counsels clients and litigation teams on ESI protocols, protective orders, document review planning, production workflows, and the preservation, collection, processing, culling, review, search, and production of electronically stored information. She also manages hard copy documents and helps integrate paper records into broader discovery workflows. In addition, she also advises on the use of technology in discovery and has experience with a range of data hosting, review, and case management tools, including Relativity and DISCO.
Her experience spans a broad range of complex matters, including antitrust and securities litigation, construction and contract disputes, copyright and trademark matters, privacy disputes, product liability litigation, arbitrations, government subpoenas, internal investigations, and insurance recovery matters. She regularly supports high-volume matters with demanding timelines and helps case teams implement processes tailored to each matter.
Serena works closely with e-discovery vendors, manages large-scale reviews, and helps oversee review teams preparing for document production, depositions, and trial. Her experience also includes related discovery and case support tasks such as preparing privilege logs, aiding in deposition preparation, and supporting settlement and trial preparation. Serena helps clients and case teams manage complex discovery demands with practical judgment, efficient workflows, and defensible processes.
