A versatile legal and national security professional, Sarah advises clients on a range of privacy, data security, law enforcement, and national security matters.
Sarah Grant has deep experience gained in legal, policy, and operational roles within the national security community. She advises clients on compliance with federal and state privacy and data security laws and regulations, litigates electronic communications privacy matters, and provides strategic counsel on a range of national security issues. She also maintains an active pro bono practice focused on LGBTQ+ rights.
Before joining Perkins Coie, Sarah was counsel in the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, where she provided legal guidance on intelligence policy, privacy, civil liberties, strategic initiatives, and foreign relations. She also served as counsel to the assistant attorney general for national security at the DOJ, supporting the National Security Division and participating in National Security Council decision-making processes.
Sarah is a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and holds a J.D. from Harvard Law School, an MPhil from the University of Cambridge, and a B.S. from the U.S. Naval Academy. She serves on the board of directors for two nonprofit organizations, Fellowships at Auschwitz for the Study of Professional Ethics, and the Truman Scholars Association. She also is active in mentoring students from underrepresented communities who are interested in careers in national security and law.
