Sarah is a legal and national security professional with a strong background in public service and ethical leadership.
Sarah Grant has experience providing legal guidance on intelligence policy, privacy, civil liberties, strategic initiatives, and foreign relations. Previously, she was counsel in the Office of the Director of National Intelligence and counsel to the assistant attorney general for National Security at the U.S. Department of Justice, supporting the National Security Division and participating in National Security Council decision-making processes.
Her legal career includes clerkships with Judge Katherine Polk Failla at the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York and Judge Diane P. Wood at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.
Sarah is a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, where she served as an intelligence officer from 2012 to 2019. Her roles included intelligence watch officer at the Pentagon, officer-in-charge of intelligence production and analysis for the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit in the Pacific, and leadership of an all-source intelligence platoon and a counterintelligence/human intelligence platoon in Okinawa, Japan.
She holds a J.D. cum laude from Harvard Law School, where she was editor-in-chief of the Harvard National Security Journal and a contributing writer for Lawfare. She also earned a master of philosophy in international relations from the University of Cambridge as a Fulbright Scholar and a B.S. in international relations from the U.S. Naval Academy, where she was selected as a Harry S. Truman Scholar. Sarah is actively involved in promoting ethical leadership and mentoring future leaders.
