Rebecca Human helps businesses navigate the world of complicated environmental regulations. She has experience advising companies on their responsibilities under the Clean Water Act; the Clean Air Act; the Safe Drinking Water Act; the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act; the Model Toxics Control Act; and many other state and federal environmental laws. She also helps land developers clean up contaminated properties and assists renewable energy companies in solving permit and land-use problems.
Rebecca also represents clients in front of administrative agencies, particularly before the Washington Utilities and Transportation Commission (UTC). She has significant experience helping clients untangle complicated regulatory requirements for solid waste hauling and handling, and also represents public utilities in rate-setting and compliance matters.
Rebecca maintains a strong pro bono practice, especially in immigration law. She has represented clients applying for citizenship and seeking asylum and has assisted with writing several amicus and appellate briefs.
Rebecca is a graduate of Harvard Law School, where she was a member of the Disability Law Students Association and helped found Dear Future Colleague, a nonprofit that provides mentorship and guidance for underrepresented law students. In college at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Rebecca was a national champion in speech and debate and conducted research on the Nebraska family court system.
