Nicolas J. Schmidt
Nic practices corporate law with an emphasis on mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and draws on his prior experience as a mechanical engineer.
He counsels tech clients, as well as strategic buyers, private equity sponsors, and private investors in negotiating complex M&A, divestitures, and restructuring transactions. His time as an engineer included firsthand experience on the shop floor and in design rooms, both in aerospace and automotive settings, which informs his decision-making abilities, practical approach, and strong attention to detail.
Maintaining an active pro bono practice, Nic works with the National Veterans Legal Services Program, assisting with combat-related special compensation and discharge upgrade petitions. He has also been involved in pro bono projects helping protect and advance reproductive rights, and providing support to those affected by Alzheimer's disease.
