Nick helps clients develop and implement wealth transfer strategies.
Nick Potter advises high-net-worth individuals, families, and business owners on estate planning, wealth transfer, and trust and estate administration. He works closely with clients to create practical, tailored strategies that move wealth efficiently across generations while preserving flexibility, control, and privacy.
Nick structures wills, revocable and irrevocable trusts, and business entities to minimize estate, gift, and generation-skipping transfer taxes. He regularly guides clients through advanced planning techniques, including grantor trusts, irrevocable life insurance trusts, GRATs, nonjudicial agreements, and other sophisticated gifting and value-shifting strategies. He also advises on structuring private family trust companies and routinely prepares federal gift tax returns.
In addition to planning, Nick represents fiduciaries and beneficiaries in trust and estate administration matters. He counsels trustees and personal representatives in fulfilling their duties, managing fiduciary risk, addressing sensitive beneficiary communications, and resolving contested issues. He also represents beneficiaries in understanding and enforcing their rights, including negotiations over distributions, accountings, and the broader administration process.
