Nathan Fahrer successfully closes high-profile purchase, sale, and financing deals for major hospitality properties, with representative clients including the Loews Chicago Hotel, the Washington Marriott Georgetown, and the Miami Dadeland Hotel. He has managed the acquisition and disposition of commercial office buildings, retail shopping centers, and multisite/multistate agricultural properties.
Nathan is well-versed in handling the real estate portions of refinancing and acquisitions, including in the forest products and construction industries. He also assists high-net-worth clients with buying, selling, and leasing real property across the United States.
Commercial landlords and tenants seek Nathan’s representation in all aspects of commercial leasing, including general office, retail, and industrial leasing. Nathan has worked with high-growth technology and internet clients in drafting and negotiating commercial leases for properties nationwide, including in San Francisco, New York, Chicago, Seattle, Austin, and Washington, D.C.
Known for his practical approach, Nathan has significant experience working with commercial mortgage-backed security special servicers on real property-secured loan workouts and real estate-owned dispositions. His counsel ranges from managing loan modifications, restructurings, and deeds-in-lieu of foreclosure to working with court-appointed receivers. Nathan also handles real estate-related bankruptcy matters.
Nathan has an active pro bono practice. He has formed and secured 501(c)(3) status for numerous nonprofits and served as a head writer for the Illinois Reform Commission.

Development of Mixed-Use Residential Hotel Complex
Represented DRW Holdings Group in the development of a mixed-use residential and hotel complex in Chicago, as well as the sale of the hotel upon completion to an affiliate of Loews Hotels & Resorts. Read the project case study.
Complex Purchases and Financings for Geller Investment Co
Represented Geller Investment Co. in two complex transactions involving (1) the purchase and financing of floors 8-20 of a former office building and converting it into a Conrad Chicago hotel; and (2) the purchase and financing of the Washington Marriott Georgetown in Washington, D.C.
Hotel Joint Ventures, Acquisitions and Financings
Represented Integrated Capital, LLC in the formation of a joint venture and acquisition of the Springmaid Beach Resort in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, which had not been sold in more than 50 years, and in an acquisition and financing for the Miami Dadeland Hotel, a boutique hotel in South Miami, Florida.

Represented Purchaser of Granite and Limestone Quarries
Represented SPO Partners & Company in the $420 million purchase of 12 limestone and granite quarries primarily in Georgia and Tennessee.
Purchase of Power Plant
Represented a forest products company in the acquisition of a 28-megawatt co-generation power plant to provide steam and electricity for lumber mill operations with excess power to be sold to third-party customers.

F5 Networks New Corporate Headquarters
Represented F5 Networks (NASDAQ: FFIV) in leasing new corporate headquarters in Seattle, Washington. The new Class A office building, developed by Daniels Real Estate and Stockbridge Capital Group, will be called F5 Tower. F5 Networks leased the entire 516,000 square feet of office space in the 44-story building. A full-service luxury hotel designed by Philippe Starck will occupy the lower floors of the tower.
Cloudera Inc. New Corporate Headquarters
Represented Cloudera, Inc. (NYSE: CLDR) in leasing new corporate headquarters in Palo Alto, California. Cloudera leased the entire 225,000 square feet of office space in the three-story building.

Represented a high technology company on a $7.8 million, 52,000 square foot office lease in New York.
