Megan's practice blends comprehensive, strategic problem solving and strong attention to detail to advise clients on a range of public and private matters.
On environmental and land use matters, Megan Lin has extensive experience navigating complex regulatory and permitting schemes to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental and land use laws. She assists clients at all stages of development, including obtaining permits and entitlements from government agencies.
Megan draws on her strong appellate and commercial litigation background to help clients identify issues early and to defend approvals and agreements when necessary to complete projects. She has significant experience with litigation in federal and state courts and administrative proceedings. Megan has successfully drafted dispositive motions, amicus briefs, and appellate briefs in federal and state courts. Most recently, she has focused on litigating a variety of condemnation and local improvement district matters.
In addition to land use and litigation work, Megan works with clients to utilize low income housing tax credits, tax-exempt bonds, and local, state, and federal funding sources to finance the construction and rehabilitation of affordable housing. Megan is adept at working with developers, tax credit investors, conventional and governmental lenders, and the Washington State Housing Finance Commission to finance, plan, and develop affordable housing projects. She has also assisted clients with structuring mixed-use developments involving condominiums, air space leases, and reciprocal easements.
Megan maintains an active pro bono practice, including obtaining legal status for an immigrant client from Syria, assisting a transgender inmate secure the first-in-the-country gender reassignment surgery while incarcerated, and defending the constitutional rights of unhoused persons in Pierce County.
Prior to joining the firm, Megan served as a judicial extern for the Hon. Ming Chin of the California Supreme Court and judicial clerk for the Hon. Charles Wiggins of the Washington Supreme Court. She also served as a fellow for the Washington State Solicitor General's Office.
