He is experienced in preparing and prosecuting patent applications across multiple jurisdictions, including the United States, China, European Union, and India. His experience extends to other facets of patent practice, including standards analysis, claim charting, and patent due diligence. Colleagues and clients value McKenzie for his detail-oriented and strategic mindset in his practice, especially with respect to patent portfolio counseling and post-grant proceedings before the USPTO, including inter partes review (IPR) and ex parte reexamination.

Having acquired education and experience in different technical fields, McKenzie is adept at quickly understanding sophisticated technologies and the challenges therein. McKenzie currently works closely with clients in telecommunications, autonomous vehicles (AVs), software algorithms, data platforms and networking, machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI), medical devices and healthcare, and financial systems and technologies.

Outside of his practice, McKenzie is actively involved in Chicago's Texas Exes chapter, the official alumni association of the University of Texas at Austin, and enjoys engaging with former, current, and future Longhorns.
