Marten brings nuanced analysis and forceful advocacy to bear on complex litigation matters.
Marten King has developed a diverse litigation practice representing many of the largest and most innovative companies in the country. He has handled contractual disputes, antitrust cases, environmental lawsuits, international arbitrations, and more. His experience spans all facets of litigation—from taking depositions and writing appellate briefs to examining witnesses before a jury.
Through clear-eyed analysis, Marten is able to craft the strongest argument possible while also helping clients accurately assess the strength of their positions. Marten takes the same analytical approach to case management and discovery, looking for ways to efficiently litigate cases by mastering frontier technologies and picking the right fights—the ones that matter to the outcome and a client’s bottom line.
Marten is deeply committed to pro bono because he understands the difference that a competent lawyer can make to those without the means to hire one. Most recently, Marten fought on behalf of a Washington mother who was trying to stop her young daughter from being sent to Saudi Arabia. Marten’s brief writing and oral advocacy in the Washington Court of Appeals helped to keep their family together.
Marten honed his oral advocacy skills by competing in parliamentary debate in college. He was the top individual speaker in the nation his senior year.
