Maria is a patent litigator with experience in many areas of science and technology, including biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, and medical devices.
Maria Stubbings applies her background in genetics and science communication to represent pharma and biotech companies in a variety of patent litigation disputes, including Hatch-Waxman abbreviated new drug application (ANDA) patent infringement disputes. She focuses on all facets of district court litigation, including claim construction, fact and expert discovery, pretrial motions, and trial. She also has experience with inter partes review and post-grant proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB).
Maria is active in the intellectual property (IP) community, participating in organizations including the PTAB Bar Association and ChIPs. She also has an active pro bono practice, advocating for clients in the courtroom and in nonlitigation contexts. Recently, Maria was a key member of a team that successfully obtained parole for an individual incarcerated for more than 30 years, earning them the Perkins Coie's Pro Bono Leadership Team Award in 2022.
Prior to attending law school, Maria studied genetics and science communication at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
