Julie earned her Ph.D. in biomedical sciences from Northwestern University. As a graduate research assistant at the Center for Genetic Medicine in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Genetics, she conducted research in the fields of cardiovascular biology, molecular genetics, and cellular metabolism to identify genetic modifiers of heart failure.
