Janet M. Howe

Janet is a seasoned litigator with extensive experience advocating for clients in administrative, state, and federal courts.

Janet Howe regularly counsels clients on claims and policy language in insurance recovery work and secures policy proceeds without litigation. She has experience recouping claims and losses under every major line of commercial insurance, including property and business interruption, general liability, employment practices liability, and professional liability. 

In her environmental practice, Janet advises clients on environmental compliance, state and environmental regulatory matters, and water rights. She has experience representing clients in all manner of environmental litigation, including permit disputes; water quality and water rights disputes; Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act litigation; state Superfund litigation; and National Environmental Policy Act litigation. Janet’s clientele is diverse, representing a wide range of industries, including mines, irrigation districts, school districts, municipalities, renewable energy companies, and various businesses.

Prior to joining Perkins Coie, Janet clerked on the U.S. Federal District Court for the District of Arizona and the Arizona Supreme Court. She was a managing editor of the Arizona Law Review and member of the National Appellate Advocacy Moot Court Team, and she worked with the Veterans Advocacy Law Clinic, Arizona Center for Disability Law, and Executive Office for Immigration Review. Before law school, Janet received her masters degree in sustainable development.
