Leveraging his engineering background, Hosub serves as a technical specialist in the firm’s Patent Prosecution & Portfolio Counseling practice.
Dr. Hosub Lee has more than 15 years of experience in AI, machine learning, computer vision, image processing, data analytics, human-computer interaction, and perceptual multimedia quality research. As a published author and patent holder, he has made significant contributions to large-scale behavioral modeling, smart TV usage analytics, and data-driven image quality assessment.
Prior to joining Perkins Coie, Hosub spent more than a decade conducting advanced research and development at corporate research centers for a global technology leader in the United States and South Korea. He has led human-subject studies for AI-based video enhancement and partnered with a private research university on image quality analysis. He also investigated human perception of 4K/8K visual quality as chair of the 8K Association Visual Quality Committee.
Hosub is the sole or lead inventor on 12 granted U.S. patents, primarily in the fields of AI and software. His research has been published in peer-reviewed journals, including IEEE Communications Magazine and ACM Transactions on Computer-Human Interaction.
Hosub earned a Ph.D. in information and computer science from the University of California, Irvine, focusing his research on modeling and predicting human privacy decision-making in Internet of Things (IoT) environments.
