Print bio

Holly is as effective before a courtroom judge and jury as she is in settlement negotiations, mediations, and prelitigation dispute resolution.

Skilled at early case evaluation, value-driven prelitigation resolutions, and litigation management, Holly Martinez (she/her) focuses on the most influential case elements to resolve disputes, such as the development of compelling case themes and jury persuasion. She also has extensive experience responding to and issuing subpoenas, preparing witnesses for depositions and trial testimony, managing large discovery projects, and briefing complex legal issues.

Holly has experience representing clients in class-action lawsuits, multidistrict litigation, products liability cases, breach of contract matters, and real estate and construction disputes, and she has particularized knowledge in partnership and shareholder disputes. She has advised clients ranging from individuals and small businesses to Fortune 50 companies.

In addition to maintaining a robust business litigation practice, Holly represents psychedelic clients in litigation, regulatory inquiries, and on emerging policy issues. She has deep experience with Right to Try laws as related to scheduled drugs, efforts to reschedule substances pursuant to the Controlled Substances Act, and in navigating the local and national political landscape regarding psychedelics. Holly has been named among the "Top 200 Global Psychedelic Lawyers and Policy & Regulatory Experts" by the Cannabis Law Report every year since 2022.

Maintaining an active pro bono practice, Holly has worked on a range of impact litigation: from efforts to make psilocybin therapy more accessible to terminally ill individuals to representing Black Lives Matter protestors seeking to express their First Amendment Rights. She has been recognized by the firm and the Oregon State Bar for her many hours of dedication to pro bono work.

In the wider legal community, Holly is the immediate past co-chair of the Oregon Hispanic Bar Association, a founding member of the Psychedelic Bar Association, and a member of the National Native American Bar Association. Holly serves as an attorney-mentor to students at all three Oregon law schools and with Portland State University's Explore the Law program.
