Associate Gabriella Gallego has experience with data security and privacy litigation matters involving the Electronic Communications Privacy Act, Stored Communications Act, and other federal and state privacy statutes.
Gabbi counsels clients on protection of personally identifiable information and infrastructure, as well as other issues arising under security and privacy laws and regulations, including the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), Brazilian General Data Protection Law (LGPD), Age Appropriate Design Code (AADC), and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) by revising privacy policies, data protection addendums, and commercial agreements and building out privacy rights requests programs. She also counsels clients through data breach preparation and response, including responding to regulatory inquiries, and is involved in enforcement work for large technology clients, finding violators of terms of use or platform policies.
With experience in criminal and civil law, Gabbi has drafted subpoena objections, motions to quash and dismiss, responses to court orders, and has experience in complex class action defense involving novel privacy issues. She has also appeared in court on several matters for large technology companies. In addition, Gabbi has done research in regulatory law and general commercial law pertinent to the retail industry and technology companies.
Maintaining an active pro bono practice, Gabbi works with a victim advocate association and various domestic violence organizations. In addition, she has assisted with landlord/tenant eviction matters, conducted research on state law for a nonprofit group aiming to fight online harassment and helped with a petition for Special Immigrant Juvenile Status involving a child seeking to stay in the United States after leaving his country due to threats and abuse.
While earning her J.D. from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law, Gabbi interned for the Hon. Maria Rivera of the California Court of Appeals, First District, and participated in the Hastings Appellate Project, part of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit Pro Bono Program. In addition, she volunteered at the Day at Law School program, which exposed local underrepresented students to the reality of law school and the application process.
