Daniel Austin

Dan represents emerging companies, investors, and entrepreneurs in a variety of business transactions and corporate governance matters.

Dan Austin’s practice includes helping innovative clients raise capital, negotiating an array of technology and strategic partnership agreements, and advising on a range of complex commercial transactions. He has particular experience in mergers and acquisitions and venture capital financings.  

Dan’s experience involves numerous emerging growth industries, including cybersecurity; fintech; energy; transportation; digital media; healthcare, including medical devices and COVID-19 testing; and the life sciences. 

Clients benefit from the insights Dan gained as in-house counsel at a venture capital-backed company, where he was an advisor and member of the executive team. Dan also was a founding partner and the head of the business law practice of a boutique law firm focused on serving technology companies.  

Dan is a decorated U.S. Army veteran who served as a field artillery officer, attaining the rank of captain. He serves on the board of directors of the Austin Monitor, a nonpartisan media company and community engagement organization. He also co-founded DivInc, a nonprofit accelerator program, to address the acute lack of ethnic and gender diversity in the technology industry.
