Informed by her background in botany and molecular biology, Danica Harbaugh helps clients protect their innovations in the life sciences and natural products industries, including plants, foods, and beverages, focusing on patent preparation and prosecution. Her multidisciplinary experience also extends to hardware and software development, allowing her to work with a wide array of technologies.

Danica's practice includes drafting and prosecuting patent applications, conducting prior art research, and developing global patent portfolios. She has significant experience in AI, machine learning applications, and next-generation DNA sequencing methods, and secures patents in the United States and internationally.

Prior to joining Perkins Coie, Danica held the roles of founder and CEO of two technology startups, where she developed novel DNA and AI-based technologies for plant and food testing. She also served as a global director of scientific innovation at a global nonprofit testing and certification company.
