Colton M. Carothers
Colton has extensive experience counseling technology companies from high growth startups to multinational conglomerates on corporate, commercial and IP transaction needs, as well as leading the drafting and negotiation of complex commercial, technology transfer, mergers and acquisitions, joint venture and venture capital agreements.
Prior to joining Perkins Coie, Colton M. Carothers was in-house counsel for Facebook, Inc. where he led complex technology transactions for the company's augmented reality and virtual reality (AR/VR) division. His work included structuring and negotiating agreements with industry-leading research and development partners, component suppliers and academic institutions.
Colton maintains an active pro bono practice, with a focus on providing legal services to nonprofit arts entities. His interest in the arts is wide-ranging, having visited museums, opera houses and symphony halls in cities all over North America and Europe. While in law school, Colton worked extensively on advising local arts organizations on young professional patronage and was selected as a 2010 Seattle Art Museum Volunteer of the Year Honoree.
Additionally, Colton enjoys working on transactions involving businesses and operations in French-speaking countries and currently serves as the outside general counsel to the French-American Chamber of Commerce of the Pacific Northwest.
