Ben Desch
Ben Desch works in the firm's Patent Prosecution practice.
He was a summer associate at Perkins Coie in 2022, and assisted in prosecuting patent applications for a variety of technologies in the energy, medical device, and consumer product sectors, among others.
Ben earned his J.D. from the University of Washington School of Law where he was an articles editor for the Washington Law Review. During law school, Ben worked in the Entrepreneurial Law Clinic to provide pro bono representation on intellectual property (IP) matters to entrepreneurs and businesses in the greater Seattle area. Ben also worked with CoMotion to perform patent landscape analyses for student inventors. He received his B.S. in evolutionary biology and ecology from the University of Rochester, graduating with distinction in research for his work on the phylogenetic and population structure of Anolis cristatellus.
Prior to beginning his law career, Ben graduated from the Naval Nuclear Power School and worked in the U.S. Navy as a nuclear engineering watch officer aboard the USS Henry M. Jackson. He gained experience managing maintenance teams for a wide variety of nuclear, electrical, hydraulic, high-pressure, and communication systems. He was also selected to be a technical instructor for radiological and operational nuclear chemistry controls at a major naval training facility in Bangor, Washington.
