Alex Kamath

Alex Kamath is an associate in Perkins Coie's Emerging Companies & Venture Capital (ECVC) practice. He represents emerging companies in both the United States and Latin America on day-to-day business counseling at every stage of the startup lifecycle, ranging from formation and corporate governance to equity and debt financings, and mergers and acquisitions. His experience includes company conversions, preparing equity incentive plans, and advising on tax and securities matters. Alex also assists Latin American founders in navigating the Cayman sandwich structure and has successfully helped numerous YC-backed founders through their incorporation and tax planning processes.

Prior to joining the firm, Alex built out the international division of an e-commerce logistics startup company. In the pre-Series A company, he launched two new product lines from scratch, led operations to manage importations into Brazil and Mexico, and spearheaded the B2B sales efforts and pipeline management to bring leading U.S. and international e-commerce companies to launch in LatAm. His personal experiences on the inside of a LatAm startup give Alex a business-oriented, cost-effective approach to handling the everyday realities of LatAm founders. [see more]

Alex is a passionate member of the Latin American startup ecosystem, participating in conferences such as Brazil at Silicon Valley and Mexico Tech Week. He often hosts in office hours and events throughout Latin America, including in São Paulo, Mexico City, Buenos Aires, Santiago, Lima, and other startup hubs in the region. Alex maintains an active pro bono practice helping organizations in both the United States and Latin America.

Alex is fluent in Spanish and Portuguese.
