She counsels entrepreneurs, startups, and large companies on implementing sound privacy and security practices, drafts online terms of use and privacy policies, negotiates intellectual property licensing agreements, and assists in various phases of technology transactions.

Akua focuses on legal research regarding data privacy laws across all 50 states, including Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, state artificial intelligence (AI) laws, EU AI Act, Children's Online Privacy Protection Rule, Biometric Information Privacy Act, CCPA, GDPR, Washington My Health My Data Act, and state Age-Appropriate Design Codes. She performs AI and privacy risk assessments and develops comprehensive privacy programs, including privacy playbooks, company privacy policies, data inventories, cookie policies, data protection agreements, and training materials.

Akua excels in drafting and revising technology agreements, including Software as a Service, software licensing, and custom manufacturing agreements. She conducts due diligence reviews of licensing agreements and privacy provisions, and provides detailed legal guidance on dataset licenses and compliance.

In incident response management, Akua assists with efforts to manage regulatory and contractual notification obligations, drafts and implements security policies aligned with National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Privacy Framework, New York State Department of Financial Services standards, and ISO/IEC 27001 requirements, and ensures compliance with data breach notification laws. She manages responses to regulatory investigations and state attorney general inquiries, providing comprehensive support to clients during critical incidents. Akua also advises clients on data security compliance and online platform user protection and enforcement, offering nuanced advice to clients across various industries.
