Sarah Schirack Named a Lawyer Representative to Ninth Circuit Judicial Conference
ANCHORAGE, Alaska (October 1, 2022)—Perkins Coie is pleased to share the Sarah Schirack, an Appeals, Issues & Strategy Counsel in the firm's Anchorage office, has been selected as a lawyer representative for the United States District Court for the Ninth Circuit Judicial Conference.
Lawyer Representatives are chosen by judges to serve three-year terms representing attorneys practicing in each of the Ninth Circuit's fifteen districts. Sarah's term began in October 2022 and will run through 2025. Lawyer Representatives play an important role in the administration of justice in the circuit and work to foster open communications between judges and attorneys.
At Perkins Coie, Sarah helps clients with civil litigation at all stages of the legal process—from case strategy, discovery, and briefing to settlement negotiations—with a focus on appeals. Her recent wins include nine appeals before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, two Washington Court of Appeals cases, an Alaska Superior Court appeal, and federal district court summary judgment for one of Alaska's largest tribal healthcare providers on matters including statutory interpretation, civil procedure, and employment law.
Sarah is also active in her community. She is President of the Alaska Chapter of the Federal Bar Association and also serves on the Alaska Bar Association's Pro Bono and Ethics Committees. Her active pro bono practice includes advocating for voting rights, children, and families. She was one of the first lawyers to participate in the U.S. District Court for the District of Alaska's pro bono prisoner civil rights project.
