Perkins Coie’s Stewart Landefeld to Receive Lifetime Achievement Award and Recognition as Director of the Year from the Puget Sound Business Journal

SEATTLE (August 22, 2023)—Perkins Coie is pleased to announce that Partner Stewart Landefeld is to receive a 2023 Lifetime Achievement Award and recognition as a Director of the Year from the Puget Sound Business Journal for his service as director and board chair of many nonprofit corporations and for his work as a co-founder of the Black Boardroom Initiative and the OnBoarding Women program.

Stewart will receive the recognition during an awards gala at Seattle's Four Seasons Hotel on September 14, 2023.

Led by Perkins Coie, with critical support from Deloitte, the Black Boardroom Initiative works to increase the representation of Black executives on corporate boards across the United States. The OnBoarding Women program is delivered by Perkins Coie, Deloitte, Madrona Venture Group, Cascadia Capital, Spencer Stuart, and other Seattle business leaders. It focuses on increasing the percentage of women executives on corporate boards across the country.

Stewart has extensive experience chairing nonprofit boards such as the Seattle Art Museum, the Seattle Foundation, and the Pike Place Market Preservation and Development Authority and counseling leading corporations and boards of directors on corporate governance and other corporate matters. He has counseled Microsoft Corporation, Costco Wholesale Corporation, T-Mobile, the Seneca Group, and the Tribune Publishing Company, among others. Stewart was the first editor-in-chief and continues as co-author of The Public Company Handbook: A Corporate Governance and Disclosure Guide for Directors and Executives.

The Puget Sound Business Journal's Lifetime Achievement Award and Director of the Year recognition are selected by a panel of independent judges that assess a nominee's ability to facilitate superior board performance, develop future board directors, provide effective legal counsel, and foster an environment of constant improvement, among other criteria.
