This is the third year Patexia has released the report, which is based on data compiled from public sources, including the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB). The data includes more than 8,100 IPR cases from July 1, 2014, through June 30, 2019.
Perkins Coie has one of the most active and successful PTAB practices in the country with a deep bench of tested, high-performing patent litigators and prosecutors who have appeared as counsel of record in more than 360 IPRs and other post-grant proceedings on behalf of petitioners and patent owners. We have represented clients since the earliest days of IPR proceedings, accumulating a winning track record.
The group's forward-thinking advice stems from its experience, research from tracking decisions and other data, and in-depth training programs for our attorneys and clients. Perkins Coie consistently publishes extensive information on post-grant data, trends and case law, including: (i) IPR>>IRL: A brief guide to the essentials of inter partes reviews in real life, an IPR handbook, (ii) Inter Partes Review Proceedings: A Fifth Anniversary Report, which provides an in-depth look at factors affecting a company's IPR strategy, and (iii) timely articles, most recently one covering the U.S. Supreme Court's SAS decision. The practice includes the former Solicitor and Deputy General Counsel for Intellectual Property Law at the USPTO who also acted as the USPTO's Chief Administrative Patent Judge in charge of the PTAB.
