Perkins Coie Reaffirms Commitment to Downtown Portland and Pacific Northwest

Portland

PORTLAND (October 1, 2024) - Perkins Coie has reaffirmed its long-standing commitment to Portland and the Pacific Northwest through the renewal of the lease for its downtown Portland Pearl District office that is home to over 115 lawyers and business professionals.

Perkins Coie has grown significantly since first opening its Portland office in 1983 to become one of the city’s most successful law firms advising local and regional businesses, emerging companies, and Fortune 500 corporations.

“We’re thrilled to reaffirm our deep commitment to Portland’s business community and to our many clients in the city and across the greater region,” said Chris Rich, Perkins Coie's Portland office managing partner. “Our Portland office is also critical to Perkins Coie’s national presence and the depth and range of the legal services we provide to clients in a fast-changing world. We are proud to count ourselves among those who believe that a thriving Portland builds opportunity and community.”

As part of its lease renewal, the firm is renovating its office space at Brewery Blocks II in Portland’s Pearl District to include uniform offices, hoteling areas, and spaces that promote collaboration. As a reflection of hybrid work, the overall footprint will be reduced to 29,239 square feet of more versatile mixed-use office space in a more amenity-rich environment.

The firm's Portland lawyers advise clients on a wide range of issues including corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, startup fundraising and venture capital, litigation, intellectual property, real estate and land use, environmental regulation, energy, natural resources, and bankruptcy law, among other areas with Perkins Coie’s over 1,200 lawyers nationwide.

The Portland office is also home to a notable team of four partners who are accomplished trial lawyers and members of the American College of Trial Lawyers. Many lawyers are active in the local business community, including through Oregon Business & Industries (OBI), the Technology Association of Oregon, the Oregon Entrepreneurs Network, and local chapters of the Association of Corporate Counsel and The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE) in addition to leadership roles with numerous bar associations and cultural and charitable organizations.

The firm is deeply invested in pro bono legal work in Portland as part of its national pro bono program. Firm lawyers provided over 2,100 hours of pro bono legal service in 2023 to clients in need across Portland and the region, regularly partnering with organizations such as Legal Aid Services of Oregon, SOAR Immigration Legal Services, Albina Vision Trust, and various housing and homeless service providers.

Perkins Coie is a leading global law firm, dedicated to helping the world’s most innovative companies solve the legal and business challenges of tomorrow. Learn about our work and values here.
