Perkins Coie Adds Paul Jasper as Senior Counsel in the Financial Transactions Practice
SAN FRANCISCO (June 29, 2021)—Perkins Coie is pleased to announce that Paul Jasper has joined the firm in San Francisco as senior counsel in the Financial Transactions practice.
Paul has significant experience in transactional, bankruptcy, and corporate restructuring matters as well as related litigation issues. He focuses his practice on risk mitigation for defaulted corporate trust transactions, where he advises corporate trustees and other parties such as monoline insurers, portfolio managers, and bondholders on defaulted structured finance, asset-backed transactions, and other complex financings, including post-default servicing, enforcement of remedies, and out-of-court restructurings.
"Paul's strong record of success representing corporate trust clients, particularly in asset-backed transactions, will be beneficial to our clients. We're pleased to welcome him to the firm and our practice," said Chian Wu, firmwide chair of Perkins Coie's Financial Transactions practice. "Paul's impressive risk management skills will also further complement our work for clients as the economy continues to rebound and as financial markets continue to evolve."
Paul joins Perkins Coie from Rimon PC, where he was a partner in the Bankruptcy and Creditors' Rights, Financial Services, and Litigation practice groups. He counseled clients on collateralized debt obligations, collateralized loan obligations, collateralized bond obligations, and other structured finance-related workouts, including issues related to the termination of synthetic securities and swap agreements, amendments, liquidation of collateral, direct and synthetic commutations, and related disputes.
"Paul's experience and track record position him well to represent financial services industry clients, and we're excited to welcome him to our growing San Francisco office," said Laura Zagar, Perkins Coie's San Francisco office managing partner. "His practice will complement other areas of focus for our firm and our office, delivering the results that matter for our clients."
Paul received his J.D. from the University of California Berkeley School of Law and B.A., cum laude, from the University of California, San Diego. He also studied Talmudic Law and Hebrew at Yeshivat Bat Ayin in Israel.
