Partner Ed Baum Receives Alpern Award from Cornell University

NEW YORK (April 20, 2023)—Perkins Coie is pleased to announce that New York litigation partner Ed Baum is the recipient of the Cornell University School of Industrial and Labor Relations' (ILR) 2023 Jerome Alpern Award.

The Jerome Alpern Award was established in 1997 and named in honor of Jerome Alpern, whose contributions of outstanding service and support to the ILR School, its students, and its alumni, combined with his professional accomplishments as a litigator and dispute resolution professional, embody the essence and spirit of the Alpern Award.

Ed, who decades ago was one of the first Cornell-ILR students to graduate with honors, is a member of the ILR Dean's Advisory Council and the ILR Scheinman Institute on Conflict Resolution's Board of Advisers. He also serves on leadership committees of the Cornell Annual Fund and, with his wife, Holly Wallace, sponsors an ILR partnership with the New York Advisory Board of the Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE) which creates curricula for teaching entrepreneurship in underserved urban high schools. The Cornell ILR Baum and Wallace Family Scholarship supports NFTE graduates who attend Cornell.

Ed's practice at Perkins Coie is focused on representing and counseling public and private companies in complex litigation involving securities, mergers and acquisition, governance and other business-driven disputes. Ed also practices as advocate and neutral in, and teaches and writes on mediation and arbitration.
