Perkins Coie Attorneys Mentioned in Law360—United Policyholders Backs 9th Circ. Virus Coverage Appeals

James Davis was quoted in "United Policyholders Backs 9th Circ. Virus Coverage Appeals," an article in Law360,* regarding the amicus briefs filed in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit by United Policyholders and two other organizations in support of Washington state businesses seeking to revive their COVID-19 coverage suits against an Allianz unit. Bradley Dlatt and Tommy Tobin were also mentioned as counsel for United Policyholders.

While the Ninth Circuit hasn't favored policyholders in its recent pandemic coverage decisions, James Davis, an attorney with Perkins Coie who represents United Policyholders, told Law360 that these decisions should ultimately be made by the Washington Supreme Court.

"They're unique issues of state law because insurance is regulated by the state," he said. "The state supreme courts really decide the interpretation of these policies."
