Wind Development on Federal Lands: What We've Learned and Where We're Headed

Offshore Wind Energy

This panel discussion will provide an overview of the leasing of federal lands for the development of wind energy projects, including the key regulatory requirements that developers should be aware of as they explore potential areas of development. The panel will discuss lessons learned from the initial wave of wind energy projects on federal lands in the western United States, and best practices for the successful development of these projects, including potential approaches to minimize and mitigate environmental and wildlife impacts. We will also explore the Biden Administration’s potential approach to accelerate the development of renewable energy on public lands and the challenges the Administration may face, including available transmission, use conflicts, and stakeholder concerns.
