Overview

Shelby advises lobbying firms, corporations, and individuals on political law matters and is an experienced business litigator.

Shelby Rampolo represents clients in political law counseling, white collar and public corruption investigations, and complex business litigation. Her work includes counseling on a wide spectrum of legal issues, including federal employment bans, state and local lobbying laws, compliance with the Lobbying Disclosure Act, and federal and state ethics laws related to the provision of gifts and things of value to public officials. Shelby’s proficiency in federal ethics has led to successful representations in high-profile congressional ethics investigations before the U.S. House Committee on Ethics and Office of Congressional Ethics, as well as in investigations led by the U.S. Department of Justice and state attorney’s offices.

In addition to her political law practice, Shelby has a robust background in business litigation, focusing on breach-of-contract, trade secret litigation, and matters involving noncompete, nondisclosure, and nonsolicitation agreements. Her strategic management of complex cases from inception to trial earned her recognition by Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch for Commercial Litigation in 2024.

Shelby is equally committed to her pro bono work, primarily defending noncitizens before the U.S. immigration courts and asylum offices, a dedication that earned her the Laura N. Rinaldi Pro Bono Lawyer of the Year Award by the D.C. Bar in 2023.
