Ryan B. Hawkins

Ryan handles complex intellectual property (IP) matters for high-tech companies, including U.S. and international patent litigations, IP portfolio management, product counseling, and privacy issues.

With a background in computer science, Ryan has represented clients such as Nintendo, Intel, Samsung, Microsoft, and Google in a variety of federal courts and agencies, including U.S. district courts, the International Trade Commission (ITC), Patent Trial and Appeals Board, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.

Ryan has experience working on matters involving mobile and web-based user interface systems, operating systems, online search engines, mapping interfaces and databases, e-commerce systems, and gaming systems. While the majority of his practice is patent litigation, his technical experience is often called upon by clients for due diligence, licensing, portfolio analysis, and acquisitions.

Active in pro bono matters and the community, Ryan has represented LGBT nonprofit organizations seeking tax-exemption status and is a member of the San Diego LGBT Center's Young Professionals Council.
