Robert G. Woolston

Robert assists clients in the domestic and international mechanical engineering fields with their patent needs.

Robert Woolston advises clients regarding mechanical engineering patents and performs due diligence analysis and counseling on intellectual property (IP) portfolio development, management, enforcement, and licensing. He has experience with patent prosecution and counseling in a range of mechanical-related technologies, including sports equipment, footwear and apparel, manufacturing equipment, audio equipment, handling and destruction systems, hearth and heating systems, hazardous waste handling systems, ballistic-resistant materials, packaging equipment, aerospace and avionic systems, and building systems. He also has substantive experience in the areas of consumer products, medical devices, and broadband communication systems.

In addition to patent prosecution and strategic portfolio management, Robert works with clients on portfolio development, management, and strategic positioning; product clearance and design-around analysis; patent invalidity, infringement, and non-infringement opinions; landscape searches; and trademark prosecution. He also drafts and negotiates IP licenses, joint development agreements, technology transfer agreements, nondisclosure agreements, and settlement agreements.
