Lauren Pardee Ruben has drafted briefs filed in the Supreme Court of the United States, the U.S. courts of appeals, state appellate courts, and various trial courts across the country.
Before joining Perkins Coie, Lauren served as a judicial clerk on the U.S. Supreme Court, the Supreme Court of California, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, and the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York. She also practiced appellate litigation at a leading national law firm.
Lauren earned her law degree from Yale Law School, where she served as an editor of the Yale Law Journal, and graduated summa cum laude from Columbia University.
Lauren maintains an active pro bono practice, focusing on immigration and civil rights matters.

Successfully opposed a petition for certiorari in a class-action suit challenging Arizona’s foster care system.
B.K. et al. v. Snyder
U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit
Represented children in the Arizona foster care system. The children alleged that Arizona’s state-wide policies and practices deprived them of required medical services and thus subjected them to a substantial risk of harm. The Ninth Circuit affirmed the district court’s order certifying a class of all children who are or will be in the Arizona foster care system. 922 F.3d 957 (9th Cir. 2019).
Everard Findlay Consulting, LLC v. Republic of Suriname
U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit
Served as lead appellate counsel for a consulting firm in a contract dispute with the Republic of Suriname. Successfully argued that the district court erred in dismissing the firm’s suit under the Foreign Sovereign Immunities Act. 831 F. App’x 599 (2d Cir. 2020)

Dream Finders Homes LLC v. Weyerhaeuser NR Co.
Colorado Court of Appeals and Colorado Supreme Court
Successfully represented a product manufacturer before the Colorado Court of Appeals, which held that the economic loss rule bars tort claims arising out of a warranty-covered product defect and reversed a $14 million judgment against the manufacturer. Successfully opposed a petition for certiorari to the Colorado Supreme Court. 506 P.3d 108, cert. denied, 2022 WL 4238209.

Successfully represented an ambulatory surgery center in its challenge to Alaska’s grant of an exemption to certificate-of-need laws. 2019 WL 1416034.

Successfully represented the beneficiary of a senior real property deed of trust before the California Court of Appeals against claims by purported beneficiaries to a subsequent forged deed of trust on the same property. Successfully opposed a petition for review to the California Supreme Court.

Successfully represented tenant and guarantor in lease dispute against landlord arising out of a lease exit. All of landlord’s claims against guarantor for breach of lease and breach of guaranty were dismissed with prejudice.

Represented plaintiffs in obtaining certification of two nationwide classes of immigrants challenging an allegedly discriminatory government program.
