Andy assists technology clients with a breadth of intellectual property (IP) matters.
Andy Pettit’s IP practice emphasizes patent and trademark procurement; strategic analysis, including infringement analysis; enforcement analysis and portfolio valuation; and counseling. He drafts and prosecutes domestic and international patent applications, conducts disclosure meetings, and analyzes portfolios as due diligence for corporate transactions.
Andy’s clients range from multinational corporations to individual entrepreneurs and startups. A co-founder of a startup that develops location-aware orthopedic devices, Andy not only offers clients an insider’s perspective but also provides counsel to clients developing their IP strategies.
Andy has acquired technical knowledge related to medical devices, medical instrumentation (including diagnostic and imaging technologies), nanotechnology, consumer electronics, microelectromechanical systems, cloud computing, and wireless communications. He also has experience in predictive analytics, machine learning, artificial intelligence, digital signal processing, speech recognition, network visibility and security technologies, and virtual and augmented reality technologies.
A member of Duke University’s Young Alumni Development Council and Young Alumni Peer Network, Andy regularly participates in the university’s Innovation & Entrepreneurship Program.
