Mara Mishner
- Technical Specialist
Dr. Mara Mishner is a technical specialist with the firm's Patent Prosecution & Portfolio Counseling practice, focusing on preparations for patent applications and patent examinations before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and foreign patent offices.
A condensed matter physicist by training, she is experienced in microelectronics and semiconductor technologies, including nanoelectronic devices based on electron spin torque for various applications (e.g., magnetic random-access memory [MRAM] chips with magnetic tunnel junctions [MTJs] and other spintronic microstructures).
Mara's skills in microelectronic and semiconductor fabrication include the growth, fabrication, and characterization of thin film magnetic material structures, microwave frequency instrumentation and measurements, designs and fabrication of nanoscale electronic devices using electron beam lithography, photolithography, UV lithography and ion milling techniques, epitaxial thin film deposition by magnetron sputtering, material and surface characterization by DC electronic transport, X-ray diffraction, atomic force microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive spectroscopy, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy.
Mara earned both a Ph.D. and M.S. in physics from the University of California, Irvine, where she was awarded both the Department of Physics & Astronomy Dissertation Fellowship and the Eddleman Quantum Institute Graduate Research Fellowship. In addition, Mara holds a B.S. in physics and astronomy with a minor in planetary science from the University of Maryland, College Park.
