AI and Government Contracting: Opportunities and Key Legal Issues
This presentation will provide an overview of the key emerging legal and policy considerations for government contractors seeking to provide AI/ML technology solutions to federal agencies, including data rights/IP protection, ethics and transparency, and risk mitigation concerning data and AI/ML models. It will also address (1) the roles of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and DoD's Joint Artificial Intelligence Center (JAIC) in setting standards and shaping how contract opportunities for AI are conducted; (2) the National AI Initiative and the implications of recent Executive Orders and the FY 2021 National Defense Authorization Act related to AI, and (3) potential regulatory activity relevant to AI/ML adoption in defense and national security.
